Final Character Design 1

It's late... and I'm tired as hell T__T But at least my character design is final! =D I decided to stick with my first one with a few changes. After getting a lecture about animation and concept art, it kinda inspired me to get drawing again ^^ This is the first concept art for my character. I will do more for her and other things (background) later =) There are reasons for some of her accessories and colour choice but i will explain them later once I've written my character profile. (Couldn't be bothered colouring it in properly... )

Eye:- Dark brown
Likes:- Hats, drawing, making things
Dislikes:- Bugs
Description:- Fools around a lot but will get the job done. Can be energetic when it comes to things she enjoys. But you will usually see her either drawing or just being lazy.
Likes to keep a low profile. Friends and family are important.
Character Rule:- -Since she has an obsession with hats, she will always have a hat or something on her head/hair
-There must be a bodyguard with her at all times
-Carries her sketchbook with her where ever she goes

Plan for the Animatic

Today we had a small meeting to discuss the road our animatic will take. We've each to come up with a minute long scenario involving a character based on ourselves. This way we actually get to have a little bit of our personality/interested etc in the animatic. I think the story’s kinda different from what I first imagined it to be – but I really can’t complain because I can’t wait to make it!

Each of us will come up with a character based on ourselves. Then come up with a scenario for that character. There will be a few interactions with each other so it all kinda flows together E.G. Small bits of Natalie’s scenario will appear in Victoria and mine etc.
Even though we’ve decided to each come up with a minute long scenario, it will be split up into small sections and pasted all together so that it will not be one minute of my scenario, one minute of Natalie’s scenario and one minute of Victoria’s scenario straight. It will be Xnumber of seconds of mine, Xnumber of seconds of Natalie’s etc.
We will each draw our own storyboard, script etc for our own part then paste it all together in the end. Then we will come together and create the animatic on ToonBoom
However, there is a problem with doing it this way. Each of our drawing style is different, so the animatic will look in a way……... bizarre. This is a problem we will have to sort out once we’ve worked out other major problems. (Maybe split up certain jobs of the animatic like character, background etc)

"Last Minute" Animatic?

So like..... after agreeing we'll be animating our progress for the animatic.... It suddenly dawned on me (it actually should have earlier) that we do not actually know what our animatic will look like considering we are animating our step by step progress.
What I mean is, right now we can not talk/plan out the exact points/scenes in the animatic because it hasn't happened yet. So this idea we have come up with will be kinda troublesome as we are kinda doing everything last minute in a sense.

However, with all that said, I still like our idea ^^ Hopefully we will be able to manage with our plans and come out with a grand spanking new animatic ;)

Story for Animatic

Righty~ho! After a quick discussion, my team and I have decided to base our animatic on the making of our animatic! Nifty huh? ^^

Basically, the story will be all three of us (Natalie, Victoria and I) trying to come up with an animatic/story etc for our university project.

Since we are actually experiencing what we are tring to animate, we should, theoretically, be able to make the thing look believable and realisitic.

Plus point, we've decided to exaggerate a few things too, just to humor up the story =D We've also decided to each create our own characters modeled on ourselves.

Will write a more accurate storyline later once all the details have been worked out =) but we've made a start! Woot! ^^


Here's my first attempt at a few character designs. Nothing interesting really, clothes and a close up of their face. Right now, I'm just gather some ideas and sketches of various characters I can have for my animatic. Then later on, I'll pick the best design and use that. =)


My drawing style (as you can see... maybe) was influenced by animes and mangas. For this module, I will be drawing in this style. I did actually want to change it (only for this class) to a more American cartoony style like the Power~Puff Girls (I suppose my style's more like this but not as cute...... =____= ) but I guess I was more comfortable with my originally style.

Meh! ~

The original of this was actually part of a series with friends. Unfortunately that did not end well >___<
I recently redrew and coloured it in a different style from what I normally do.

the character's called Lyienna and can control water. =) How nifty =P ~

The reason why I'm posting this is because I want to take some qualities from her and use them for my new character for the animatic. (Obviously not the water controlling power..........)


She doesn't really stand out from the crowd - likes to keep a low profile. Values her friends/family. Likes to play around a lot but will be serious when she needs to be. She's roughly mid-teen, so 16/17ish? There really isn't anything special about her, just you're average girl next door (with powers ^^). ~
